Roles

Volunteer with Us

The Group cannot function without support!

We always welcome an extra pair of hands and we have roles that can take as little as a couple of hours a month.  The Scout Association, at the local level, is staffed entirely by volunteers who give up their time to help your child develop to their full potential.  We are not a babysitting service and our young people get much more from Scouting if their parents or guardians take an active role in supporting the unit.

This can be something as simple as offering to help the Section Leader out every now and then, especially if you have a skill you can teach our members, helping to keep our website up to date, or helping with Section admin to more in depth tasks such as sitting on the Executive Committee, being our Quartermaster, becoming an Occasional Helper, or donning a uniform and becoming a Section Assistant or even a fellow Leader.

As with the Sections volunteering is open to all, the only stipulation is that you must under-go a criminal records check and for some roles you may also need to go through a formal appointments process.  Certain roles also require you to undertake training, for which you will be supported by a training advisor.

Time and hands are our shortest resource, so if you are willing and able to help us, even if it is just every now and then, please let your Section Leader or the GSL know.

Use the Contact Us Page to Contact the Scout Leader for the section you feel you would like to help with. or Email the GSL for any general information on roles.
